St. Croix Fishing
Serious anglers have ranked St. Croix fishing among the world's best, and for good reason: no fewer than 20 world records have been set in the waters here, where blue marlin, tuna, wahoo, and sailfish, among others, are plentiful.
Prime St. Croix fishing takes place at Lang Bank, a deep-water drop-off area just 10 miles offshore. Bait fish abound here, lured by a mix of cool waters and ocean currents.
St. Croix fishing charters to Lang Bank generally set off for four to eight hours, and will cost in the area of US$100 per hour per person. One of the best known St. Croix fishing excursions is a trip aboard the Fantasy, a 38-foot powerboat operated by Mile Mark Charters in Christiansted. The boat leaves for four, six, and eight hour St. Croix fishing outings and includes crew, bait, and tackle gear. The trip costs US$100 per hour and can accommodate six passengers.
You can also do as the locals do and engage in some St. Croix fishing right off the rocks of Clover Crest at Frederiksted.
